VAN BUREN – In their annual meeting Wednesday, shareholders of USA Truck of Van Buren re-elected three directors and gave advisory approval to the trucking company’s executive compensation plan.
At the start of the 10-minute meeting at USA Truck headquarters, board Chairman Terry A. Elliott presented a plaque recognizing James B. "Breck" Speed’s almost 24 years of service. Speed, a director of the company since 1988 and chairman of the board from 1988 until 2000, retired from the board effective Wednesday.
Re-elected to terms expiring in 2015 were Clifton R. "Cliff" Beckham, CEO of the company; Elliott, former CFO of Safe Food Corp. of North Little Rock; and Richard B. Beauchamp, a partner of the Norris Taylor & Co. accounting firm of Fort Smith.
On April 19, USA Truck reported a first-quarter net loss of $4.9 million, widening the year-earlier loss of $2.7 million. For 2011, the company experienced an increase in total revenue to $519.4 million compared with $460.1 million in 2010. However, its net loss increased to $10.8 million in 2011 compared with a net loss of $3.3 million in 2010.
