2 min read

Wayne Miller, managing director of the Venture Center’s FinTech Accelerator, has been named executive director of the Little Rock-based nonprofit.

Miller succeeds Lee Watson, who moved into a newly created position, “chief innovator,” in June.

“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to advance the Venture Center’s mission to inspire social and economic change in Arkansas. The opportunity is extraordinary, and I truly love the work we are doing. Helping entrepreneurs succeed and companies innovate is a privilege,” Miller said in a statement released Wednesday.

Miller also said, “The remarkable access that we have to decision makers and influencers is second to none. The dedication of the people in this community, the state leadership and our corporate partners have significantly contributed to our results. I am genuinely excited to help take the Venture Center to the next level. … We plan to do this through our three key pillars: education, collaboration and acceleration.”

Before joining the center in May 2017, he served as CEO of Enovative Technologies LLC, a private equity-backed medical device manufacturer in Bishopville, Maryland.

Miller has worked with two startup technology companies in the health care and cybersecurity markets and has taught entrepreneurship as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland.

Other positions he has held include director of business development for Proxicom in Reston, Virginia; national director of business development for Deloitte in Washington, D.C.; director of national accounts for Hill-Ro in Batesville, Indiana; and marketing manager for Kraft Foods.

Miller has also owned and operated a national multi-unit automotive franchise and New Orleans Emporium, a restaurant in Washington, D.C.

He attended the University of Pittsburgh.
