Victoria’s Secret Revealed as NWA Mall Sales ChampLock Icon

2 min read

Tucked inside the exhibits of the property assessment appeal of the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville was something that rarely escapes into public view.

We discovered a list of the gross retail sales and sales per SF for all of its stores except the anchors.

Victoria’s Secret was the retail sales champ in both 2015 and 2016, with sales of $3.4 million and $3.5 million, respectively.

In fact, only a handful of retailers broke the $2 million threshold in 2015. They were Bath & Body Works, $2.7 million; American Eagle Outfitters, $2.3 million; and Forever 21, $2.1 million.

The mall’s highest sales per SF in 2015?

Sunglass Hut, which had $1,060 sales per SF for its store of 650 SF.

Things Remembered came in second with $1,034 for a store with a 160-SF footprint.

In 2016, Sunglass Hut improved its sales per SF to $1,127. In second place that year was Lids with $1,010 for a store with 422 SF.

In 2016, the retailers that sold more than $2 million were Bath & Body Works, $2.7 million; American Eagle Outfitters, $2.2 million; Champs Sports, $2.1 million; and Forever 21, $2 million.

The overall gross sales increased from $45.4 million in 2015 to $47.3 million in 2016.

That’s because 59 stores were listed in 2016, six more than in the previous year.

The average revenue per SF was higher in 2015, $252.95 compared with $245.54 the next year.

The list doesn’t indicate whether a particular store was open for an entire year.

And the sales reports don’t show gross sales for the anchors: Dillard’s, J.C. Penney and the Sears that recently closed.
