Video: CFOs Share How Best to Use Data in Decision Making

1 min read

Business leaders should make sure they’re collecting good information and focusing on key metrics when using data to make decisions, some of the state’s top chief financial officers told Arkansas Business during a roundtable discussion in December.

In this video, Jennifer Styron, executive vice president and CFO of CARTI of Little Rock; Greg McKinney, CFO of Bank OZK of Little Rock; and Gina Dailey, CFO of Central Arkansas Group Universal Health Services Inc. of Little Rock, share advice on how to use the vast amount of data now available to businesses.

“Insuring data integrity on the input side is critical, and then being able to harvest that goldmine that you collect, and then being able to effectively display it for consumption and decision-making — those three pieces are key,” Styron said.

McKinney said business leaders should focus on the most important metrics for success, and not get bogged down in the sea of information that’s out there.

“It’s easy to get lost in all the vast data that exists,” McKinney said.

Styron, McKinney and Dailey were among the honorees at Arkansas Business’ 2020 CFO of the Year awards on Dec. 15 in Little Rock. The panel shared a range of business tips and advice for business leaders during a roundtable led by Arkansas Business Publisher Mitch Bettis and HoganTaylor Managing Partner Gary Cooper.
