Vouk Transportation Exec Leander Muncy III Gets 24 Months In Prison

1 min read

A former executive of Vouk Transportation Inc. of North Little Rock was sentenced Tuesday to 24 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of theft and embezzlement from an employee pension benefit plan.

Leander J. Muncy III, 44, of North Little Rock, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright. Wright also ordered Muncy to pay $268,719.80 in restitution and a $100 special assessment.

Wright ordered Muncy to report to the Bureau of Prisons to begin his sentence on July 16.

Muncy waived indictment and pleaded guilty in February.

Muncy held various positions at Vouk Transportation, including president and vice president, from September 2004 to August 2010, during which he was trustee of the company’s employee profit sharing plan.

At the plea hearing in February, Muncy admitted that while he was trustee, he embezzled more than $270,700 from the plan, $224,500 of which was in the form of 19 checks which he either wrote to himself or B&E Transport, a company he had formed.

The U.S. Attorney’s office also said Muncy diverted more than $46,000 in loan payments, intended for the profit-sharing plan, to his personal account or cashed them for his use.
