Walmart Announces $428M Bonus Round

1 min read

Walmart Inc. of Bentonville said Tuesday it would pay out another round of bonuses to its full- and part-time hourly employees in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The publicly traded retailer, the nation’s largest employer, said it would make $428 million in bonus payments in the same pattern it did for a bonus program in March. Full-time employees will receive $300 and part-time and temporary employees will receive $150.

The bonuses will go to employees who work at the retailers’ stores, clubs and distribution and fulfillment centers as of July 31. The payments will be sent Aug. 20; Walmart said it will have given out more than $1.1 billion in bonuses since the pandemic hit.

“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” said John Furner, CEO of Walmart U.S. “To further appreciate their incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”

Walmart also announced its stores and Sam’s Club locations would be closed on Thanksgiving, which falls on Nov. 26.
