Walton Arts Center Expansion Gets $1M Donation

1 min read

Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville said Wednesday that Marti and Kelly Sudduth of Bentonville have donated $1 million to the center’s expansion efforts.

“Northwest Arkansas is an amazing place to live, and we believe the Walton Arts Center is a vital part of our community,” Marti Sudduth said in a news release. “We are inspired by the spirit of giving we have observed since this became our home six years ago.”

The center said the Sudduth’s moved to the area about six years ago from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be near their family. They attend shows at Walton Arts Center with their children and grandchildren.

The money will go toward the center’s $23 million fundraising campaign called “Investing in our Future: The Expansion of Walton Arts Center.”

The campaign is raising money to pay for a 30,000-SF expansion of the performing arts venue. Part of the expansion, which includes a new atrium, offices, renovations and theater equipment, is set to be complete in fall 2016.

The Sudduths’ donation follows a pair of other high-profile contributions to the project announced this year.

Last month, the Walmart Foundation gave $1.5 million to the project, and in March, the Walton Family Foundation awarded the center a $5 million challenge grant.
