Wendy Ward has been named associate provost for faculty in the Division of Academic Affairs at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She succeeds Dr. Jeanette Shorey, who retired Feb. 29.
Ward, a board-certified psychologist who joined UAMS in 2003, is a professor in the College of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. She has been director of interprofessional faculty development in the Office of Interprofessional Education since 2016, a role she will continue. She previously was associate director of the section of pediatric psychology, director of faculty wellness, director of leadership development, co-director of faculty development and associate director of faculty affairs. She has also served as president of the UAMS Women’s Faculty Development Caucus. In 2015, Ward received the Chancellor’s Teaching Award for Society & Health Education Excellence.
Ward received her Ph.D. in pediatric psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed an internship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and her postdoctoral fellowship at UAMS.

Dr. Jason Pelton has been hired as a cardiologist at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Heart Center.
Pelton graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and went on to study internal medicine further at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Brandon Gorman has been hired as the chief financial officer and the chief operational officer of the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership in Lake Village.
Gorman is a certified public accountant and has 10 years of experience working in finance for rural hospitals in Arkansas.

Mitchell Nail has joined St. Bernards Healthcare in Jonesboro as the media relations manager.
In his new position, Nail will oversee external communication and communication with the press and the public.

Dr. Gregory Morris, Dr. Shyann Renfroe and Dr. Mazen Zawaideh have been hired by RAPA Radiology Associates in Little Rock.
Morris and Zawaideh will be working remotely from the West Coast while Renfroe will be serving at the Warren and Pine Bluff locations.

Jean Cook has been promoted to chief operating officer by Travel Nursing Across America of North Little Rock, where she had been chief financial officer since 2016.

Christy Hockaday is joining Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Little Rock as vice president of provider network innovation and strategy.
Hockaday is a Morrilton native and has more than 20 years of experience in health care administration.
