Washington Regional Adds Neurosurgeons, Promotes Director (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. Brent Peterson and Dr. Daniel Shepherd have joined Washington Regional Medical Center’s Northwest Arkansas Neuroscience Institute in Fayetteville.

Peterson has more than 20 years of experience as a neurosurgeon, most recently at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa and completed his general medicine internship and neurological surgery residency at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan. He is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Shepherd earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his neurological surgery residency and an enfolded complex spine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

James Roundtree has been promoted to vice president of surgical services at Washington Regional.

Roundtree previously served WRMC as clinical director and then director of surgical services. In his new role, he will have oversight of all operating rooms, perioperative services, the post-anesthesia care unit, sterile processing, surgery scheduling and associated clinical education.

Dr. Lauren Hendrix is the newest provider at Arkansas Urology in Little Rock.

Hendrix earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed her residency in urologic surgery at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She is board-certified by the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Women in Urology.
