Wayne Woods Retires from CJRW

1 min read

The rumor is true: Wayne Woods has retired from the Little Rock ad agency formerly known as Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods.

While Woods didn’t return a call from Whispers, Richard McKeown, CJRW’s chief public relations officer, confirmed that Woods had announced his retirement to the board of directors on Dec. 7 and to stockholders on Dec. 10.

Wayne and his brother, Shelby Woods, founded The Woods Brothers Agency in 1967 and merged it with Cranford Johnson Robinson Associates in 1990. The Woodses’ expertise in tourism promotion became a backbone of CJRW’s business.

Shelby remains on CJRW’s board of directors as chairman emeritus, according to the firm’s website.

Wayne’s departure is not even the most recent change at a firm that has lost (dozens of employees, including everyone named Cranford) and gained (by acquiring Heathcott Associates) in the past couple of years.

This week, Chairman and CEO Darin Gray will announce that Brian Kratkiewicz will have the new title of director of media and innovation and Jill Joslin will be director of account services.

Kratkiewicz, who joined the agency in 1997, had been director of account services and media. Joslin came to CJRW a year ago with the acquisition of Heathcott, where she was director of account services.
