Western Foods to Employ 50 in Pine Bluff

1 min read

A new company is coming to Pine Bluff this spring and creating 50 jobs.

Western Foods LLC of Woodland, California, said Wednesday that it will open a gluten-free flour mill in an existing 50,000-SF building in the city’s industrial park.

Company executives said the new “Delta Region” facility will expand Western Foods’ position in the long-grain rice flour market and allow it to better serve customers in the Midwest and on the East Coast. They also cited the location’s access to a multi-modal transportation system and its proximity to Little Rock and Memphis.

“By opening our second mill in Pine Bluff, we will have an excellent logistical flow to important markets such as Chicago only 10 hours away by truck,” Tom Andringa, vice president of sales and business development, said in a news release.

Jefferson County’s Economic Development Corporation is helping the project along with local incentives worth $280,750.

Western Foods supplies conventional and organic non-GMO rice and ancient grain flours in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer market place. The company’s services support their customers in creating whole grain, multi-grain, high fiber and celiac-friendly food products. The company also sells corn, legume and almond flours.
