Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday announced the appointment of Scott Ford, CEO and co-founder of Westrock Coffee of Little Rock, to the University of Arkansas board of trustees. Ford replaces Little Rock attorney Morril Harriman, who was appointed by former Gov. Mike Beebe in 2014 and recently completed his 10-year term on the board.
Ford’s term will expire on March 1, 2034.
“I am proud to appoint Scott Ford, a highly respected, accomplished entrepreneur, to serve on the Board of Trustees at the University of Arkansas,” Sanders said in a statement. “From Rwanda all the way to Conway, Arkansas, he has helped attract businesses, jobs, and opportunities. I am confident that his strong leadership, character, and experience will make him an invaluable member of the Board of Trustees.”
Under Ford’s leadership, Westrock has become publicly traded and invested hundreds of millions of dollars in a new production facility and distribution center in Conway.
Before launching Westrock, Ford held corporate leadership roles including president and CEO of Alltel Corp. from 2002-2009.
Ford is a special adviser to Stephens Group of Little Rock and a member of the AT&T board of directors and the Agaciro Development Fund board of directors. The latter is the sovereign wealth fund for the Republic of Rwanda.
In the past, he has served as a Tyson Foods board member, chair of the St. Louis Federal Reserve’s Little Rock Branch, and chair of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association.
“It is a great honor and privilege to be appointed by Governor Sanders to serve on the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees … I look forward to working with the Board and the administration as we prepare the next generation of leaders to take our state to the next level,” Ford said.
