Killeen, TX USA - Jul. 20 2021:Whataburger
Burger lovers, rejoice. Whataburger is planning its first location in Little Rock.
The San Antonio-based chain has obtained a construction permit for a $1.7 million project at 17100 Chenal Parkway. The contractor is listed as TMG Construction Management Inc. of Noblesville, Indiana.
The news was first reported Tuesday evening by local food blogger Kevin Shalin.
Whataburger did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday morning.
The site in west Little Rock is one of two known locations that Whataburger has planned for central Arkansas. MySaline.com reported last month that the burger chain is moving into a commercial property under development in Benton on Alcoa Road.
A sign advertising 3,000 SF of available space, along with the Whataburger logo, tipped off the publication. Benton city officials confirmed to KTHV that the burger chain is coming and construction is starting soon.
Whataburger currently has six locations in Arkansas, four of which are in the northwest region. The chain recently broke ground on its first location in Fort Smith.
