Christy Walton, the widow of Sam and Helen Walton’s son John, might have been bumped from her spot as the world’s richest woman by Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart – depending on who you ask.
According to Australian magazine BRW on May 23, Rinehart’s fortune has recently grown to $28.6 billion. Christy Walton’s estimated net worth is $26.1 billion.
However, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index still shows Rinehart’s net worth as a mere $18 billion, placing her way down on that list at No. 30.
