
William R. Bowes, chancellor of finance and chief financial officer of UAMS, has been promoted to senior vice chancellor for finance and administration at the university. In his new role, he will provide senior leadership of UAMS information services, campus operations and business administration.
“As the state’s only academic health center, UAMS has the unique opportunity to lead health care in Arkansas,” said Bowes. “I look forward to continuing to help this institution promote its mission of improving health and health care for all Arkansans.”
Bowes has held previous positions as senior vice president for finance and administration at Georgia Health Sciences University in Augusta (now Augusta University), vice chancellor for fiscal affairs with the University System of Georgia, vice president for finance and administration for Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut, and assistant commissioner for financial affairs with the Connecticut Department of Higher Education in Hartford.
Bowes earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and his master’s degree in urban and policy sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Shannon Boshears has been named vice president of advancement at Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock. She will also continue to serve as executive director of the Pulaski Technical College Foundation.
In her new role, Boshears will oversee the college’s public relations and marketing team as well as the new Center for Humanities & Arts Theater and Windgate Gallery.
