Nonprofit domestic violence shelter Women & Children First (WCF) of Little Rock announced Tuesday that Cindy & Chip Murphy have donated $1 million to support the Forest of Hope Family Peace Center. A press release from the nonprofit said the donation “brings us closer to realizing this vital initiative.”
The donation leads the organization’s “Campaign of Courage,” a capital initiative to establish the Family Peace Center. Currently, survivors escaping domestic violence have to navigate up to 22 different locations to access resources. The new center will consolidate services under one roof, alongside WCF’s emergency shelter.
The release stated that the couple has been supporters of WCF for years. Nearly two decades ago, Cindy Murphy founded the Woman of the Year Gala. Now in its 19th year, this gala has evolved into one of WCF’s most impactful fundraising events, providing support for survivors and the organization’s mission.
“Cindy and Chip’s unwavering belief in our work and their extraordinary generosity have made an immeasurable impact on survivors and their families,” Angela McGraw, CEO of WCF, said in the release. “The Forest of Hope Family Peace Center would not be possible without them. Their compassion and commitment have not only kept our mission alive but strengthened it for generations to come.”
Conway’s Nabholz Construction Corp. is set to build the $20 million Forest of Hope Family Peace Center at 9009 Dailey Drive in Little Rock.
“Cindy saw the need, built the board and never lost sight of the mission,” Chip Murphy said in the release. “The Family Peace Center is more than just a shelter — it’s a solution. And that’s what Cindy does. She makes solutions happen. True Cindy style. The Cindy magic.”
