That first accounting-related class in high school was all it took for Brandon Barger to find his career path. “I knew I would major in it in college because it came natural to me,” said Barger, who grew up in Nashville (Howard County).
Since 2017, the certified public accountant has held the post of chief accounting officer at Little Rock’s BSR Real Estate Investment Trust. Barger joined the apartment-focused REIT in 2014 as director of financial reporting to help get the venture’s accounting systems ready for its initial public offering.
Before that, he did audit work in the Little Rock and New Orleans offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers during 2009-13.
Barger graduated cum laude in May 2009 from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and finance.
He is a board member of BSR’s Home Away From Home Foundation and a member of the Real Property Association of Canada’s financial best practices committee and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
