Alex Bennett has always been interested in health care and helping others, an interest that led her into social work at Families & Children Together in El Dorado. But in 2015, she joined the Medical Center of South Arkansas because she thought that she would have the opportunity “to have more of an impact in a broader sense,” she said.
The hospital CEO, Scott Street, credited Bennett with “the recruitment of dozens of physicians, resulting in increased health care access to the south Arkansas community.” Bennett herself is proud to have helped bring in new service lines and expand patient access. “I think that’s very important for a rural area, to increase patient access as much as possible,” she said.
Street said Bennett goes above and beyond in her service to the hospital, citing, as just one example, her work helping set up a day care for the children of hospital employees when schools closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In all she does, Bennett said, “communication is key.” And she’s quick to credit the work of her colleagues. “Nothing that I do would be possible without being surrounded by these amazing people.”
