A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Ashlie Hilbun was a Centenary College senior in Shreveport when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in August 2005. Plunging in to help, Hilbun set her course in nonprofit work, digging in to help residents rebuild their homes and lives.
“I never looked back,” she said. “I knew I wanted to empower others to thrive and create more equitable communities.”
Armed with the master’s in social work from Tulane, she began her career in fundraising at the University of Arkansas while also earning her doctorate, developing partnerships with philanthropists who also wanted to make a difference.
In 2016, Hilbun found “her professional home,” motivated to join the Arkansas Children’s team by her family’s experience with the hospital and by its “audacious vision” to ensure children statewide a safe and healthy start in life.
Today, she serves as chief strategy Officer and SVP for Strategic Marketing. “Facilitating the organization’s strategic direction, forging partnerships and telling the story of our team’s impact, especially over the course of the last year, is the most gratifying professional experience of my career.”
She is also on HealthTech Arkansas’ strategic advisory board and the Easter Seals Arkansas board of directors.
