En route to getting married, Matt Buchanan moved to Little Rock in 2005 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Batesville’s Lyon College.
A buddy gave him some career advice: “Man, why don’t get a job at the bank, and you can figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life.” His entry as an assistant in commercial lending at U.S. Bank has become a nearly 17-year vocation.
Buchanan rose to senior vice president of commercial real estate lending with the bank and in 2016 completed his MBA at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He joined Bank OZK as an executive vice president in 2017.
A 2012 graduate of Leadership Greater Little Rock, Buchanan is board chair of the Centers for Youth & Families Foundation. He is a board member of
the Ozark Mission Project and a co-founder of the Tanzania Wesley Edu-cation Foundation.
Buchanan, who grew up in Perry-ville, is a past volunteer with Junior Achievement of Arkansas and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.
