Jamie Fugitt describes himself as the least creative person who likes to be around creative people, but he might not be giving himself enough credit.
Fugitt earned his degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville before he went on to graduate from Harvard Law School.
Next, he joined Williams & Anderson, but found that being a traditional attorney wasn’t for him. While looking for something different, Fugitt discovered Arkansas’ burgeoning startup ecosystem.
“The cultural anthropologist in me was seeing interesting people doing interesting things, and that’s kind of a gravitational force for my curiosity,” he said. “I’m perfectly happy to invite myself to lunches and coffees with people that I don’t know. And so I started doing that” to break into the kind of law work entrepreneurs and investors need done.
He mentored startups in accelerators and served on boards, and joined PPGMR Law in 2014 to do legal work for entrepreneurs, startups and investors. He started at Apptegy in March.
Fugitt also plays guitar and supports independent filmmakers as well as Arkansas PBS.
