A longtime nurse, Rachel Sims had a prominent businessman as her mentor. Her father, Randy Sims, is the retired CEO and president of Home Bancshares Inc. and executive chairman of Centennial Bank of Conway.
“He’s the hardest worker I’ve ever known,” said Sims, a Ouachita Baptist University graduate who got her nursing degree at the University of Central Arkansas. “He encouraged me to do whatever I dreamed, open a business, whatever. But he taught me a lot of hard work has to go with it.”
Sims nursed in a hospital after training, then spent a decade as an aesthetic nurse injector. “I always wanted to run my own med spa.” She got that chance with Dr. Hayden Franks, opening SKN at Franks Dermatology. It marked its first anniversary in March, and Sims considers its success her greatest career achievement. Sims also started Miller Marsh Cosmetics, a small skin care line, with Little Rock pharmacist Brittany Marsh.
Sims was CARTI’s Festival of Fashion chair in 2019-2021 and has volunteered for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the American Heart Association.
