Eric Munson leads the largest small business advocacy group in Arkansas, representing some 5,000 businesses. That’s a 30 percent increase since he became director in 2001.<p>
He worked as an investment banker with Stephens Inc. for five years and as a financial consultant with Smith Barney for two years. But working as Gov. Mike Huckabee’s natural resource-economic development liaison and legislative aide made him want to find a way to combine his two passions, business and politics.<p>
“Give 110 percent and good things will happen,” Munson said.<p>
He serves on the board of Pulaski Technical College and is chairman of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council.<p>
An active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Munson, 37, also finds time to work with kids with Junior Deputy baseball and the Hillcrest Girls softball league.<p>
He was instrumental in lobbying for the passage of tort reform during the 2003 legislative session and used the experience with bonds he gained at Stephens when working on highway legislation for the governor in the previous session.
