Evaluating failed banks for possible acquisition has dominated the career of Tim Hicks since he joined Little Rock's Bank of the Ozarks in August 2009.
"I was always drawn to some sort of business," he says. "While in college, I saw accounting as an avenue for opportunities."
Hick began his career with the Little Rock office of Deloitte & Touche after attending law school for two years at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He worked mostly with clients in the financial services industry for 10 years before leaving as senior manager of audit to join Alltel Corp. in April 2006.
Investor relations and private equity relations dominated his first two years at Alltel while integration and transition work associated with the sale to Verizon saw him through to July 2009.
Born in Raleigh, N.C., Hicks grew up in Little Rock and graduated in 1994 with a bachelor's in economics and accounting from Hendrix College in Conway.
He serves as the treasurer for the 2010 Mike Beebe gubernatorial campaign, a post Hicks held for the 2006 campaign. Hicks, a member of Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XIX, is in his fourth year as a volunteer soccer coach at Little Rock Futbol Club. He also is a past board member of the Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
