Melissa Hendricks has accomplished a lot in her first four years as a grants and major gifts officer at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock.
"We talk about the importance of helping our students with the gift of education," she says. "We're really hoping to create more productive citizens who can sustain themselves and provide better for their families."
Hendricks, who was one of the first full-time grants and major gifts officers at Pulaski Tech, is in charge of the raising and administration of funds from both public and private donors.
"Our office is entrusted with the task of finding outside clients that support our students," she says.
Within the last four years, her office has raised $10 million in grant funds, which have supported everything from scholarships and student programs to the construction of a new aviation center.
A 1995 Arkansas State University graduate, Hendricks is involved at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre as a board member and is the president of Friends of the Rep. In addition, Hendricks is on the Uncorked Committee for the Museum of Discovery and is on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
