Field Service Representative

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position primarily performs routine connects, disconnects and collects past due accounts. Also, is responsible for general service work pertaining to meters and metering.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Field Service Representative SupervisorSupervises: None
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs field collection activities, which includes collecting payments on past due accounts or removing energized meters and setting or resetting energized meters up to 240 volts.

Completes general service work associated with metering problems.

Uses an extendo stick to connect or reconnect transformers when needed.

Takes part in scheduled rotation of resetting meters when resets are performed after the end of a normal shift.

May read residential and commercial meters as assigned. Verifies meter number, number of dials, multiplier, if applicable, status of account, rate class and locations.

Identifies and reports safety hazards, vandalism, meter tampering and other problems spotted in the field.

Responds to member questions and reports service problems to appropriate Cooperative personnel.

The Field Service Representative shall be required to perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Job Knowledge, Training, and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required and four years experience dealing the general public in an office environment or field environment. Must have a thorough working knowledge of service applications and billing procedures. Must have a valid driver's license without restriction that would prohibit insurability.

Equipment Operated: Telecommunication equipment, vehicles, and tools necessary for connection and/or disconnection of electric meters, and equipment normally found in an office.

Abilities and Skills: Must have effective interpersonal and Member relations skills to interact with Members and employees. Must be able to proficiently address and resolve Member inquires; to effectively conduct Member interactions. Must be familiar with the use of most routine office equipment. Must have ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision and have demonstrated the ability to successfully balance and complete numerous tasks and job functions simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-pressure work atmosphere.

Physical Effort: Must be able to work in all weather conditions while operating a Cooperative vehicle.

Working Conditions: Majority of work will be done outdoors in all weather conditions though some work may be performed in an office atmosphere. Office location may change at any time due to cooperative needs, goals, and objectives. Overtime will be required.
