Research Associate – Food Science Department of Agriculture


Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will assist the research and teaching efforts of the project investigator in the areas of food science, food processing, and food safety. Areas of emphasis include (1) operation and maintenance of Value-Added product laboratory and food microbiology laboratory, (2) assisting to conduct food science/food safety research projects, (3) development of value-added products from locally produced agricultural crops, (4) assisting undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory exercises in Food Science, Food Technology and Food Microbiology (5) assisting graduate students' thesis research projects, and (6) assisting in developing manuscripts and news articles.

Qualifications: M.S. degree in Food Science or equivalent from an accredited university with 1- 3 years of experience in food product development using horticultural crops and research background in Food Science, Food Processing, and/or Food Safety. Must have a good written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, make right decisions on a timely manner, and cultivate a good working relationship with co-workers.
