First-Year Adviser (Two positions available)

Lyon College seeks two First-Year Advisers to ensure success and resiliency among first-year students by supporting and promoting holistic development through intrusive advising, coaching, curricular support and co-curricular involvement. The full-time, 10 month/year positions will have the responsibility for advising incoming first-year students, conducting related outreach and retention-focused programming, and fully participating in summer registration and orientation sessions. First-Year Advisers will report directly to the Director of First-Year Advising and will maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, academic departments, athletics, and other student-oriented departments across campus.
Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree, will demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, and will show evidence of the ability to work with a diverse student population. Previous experience in a liberal arts college environment is desirable.
Lyon College is located in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and historic town of 10,000 that serves as commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area and named by USA Today as the best city to live in in Arkansas. The College currently enrolls almost 700 undergraduate students from 24 states and 15 foreign countries. Entering freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.5 and an average ACT composite of 24 and SAT score of 1117.
