Public Services Librarian


Lyon College seeks a full-time Public Services Librarian to serve in its Mabee-Simpson Library (MSL). The MSL provides services to students, staff, faculty, and community members. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Public Services Librarian coordinates and supervises public services (including reference, interlibrary loan, and circulation services); conducts bibliographic instruction; and participates in collection development. This position also assists with the creation of online research guides, video tutorials, and conducting library outreach.
Required Qualifications: master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited post-secondary institution; exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; broad knowledge in all varieties of social media; and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Preferred Qualifications: work experience in a library, preferably academic; experience with all facets of interlibrary loan; acquaintance and use of OCLC’s Worldshare integrated library system; and a second master’s degree.
The position is available July 1, 2019 and is a twelve-month appointment.
