Nursing Instructor


A nursing instructor is responsible for classroom and clinical teaching, and student advisement. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Serves as teaching faculty in the Department of Nursing. Duties are as follows:

 Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum, utilizing effective teaching methodologies
 Maintain expertise in field of study and teaching pedagogy/andragogy
 Maintain active participation in professional organizations as appropriate.
 Assists with accreditation documents and handbooks
 Participates in Advisory Board meetings.
 Participates in student recruitment.
 Prepares course syllabi using departmental/university template.
 Assist in the development of the departmental course schedule.
 Provide required forms and papers to the Registrar’s Office within the specified time frame.
 Maintain appropriate records of student performance.
 Demonstrate procedures in nursing skill laboratory, supervise student demonstrations, and evaluate student performances.
 Makes recommendations to Dept. Chair regarding budgetary needs.
 Provide input in the curriculum development.
 Participate in departmental and university committees as assigned.
 Advise students as needed.
 Counsel and advise students as needed.
 Performs other duties as assigned
 Participate in research

Master’s in Nursing Science degree required.

Must have an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license or eligible to be licensed in the state of Arkansas.
Three to five years teaching experience preferably in a BSN education program.
Proficient in computers (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Adobe).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Salary: Salary range will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
