Sr Director - Compensation, Classification, Records and HRIS

The Senior Director of Compensation, Classification, Records and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) will be responsible for managing the strategic development and ongoing administration of all compensation programs for UAMS ensuring cost-effectiveness, market-competitiveness, internal equity and alignment with the organization’s mission and vision. This position provides direction in the development and implementation of compensation policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with policy outlined by the Department of Higher Education and the University of Arkansas System, as well as all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and practices. This position will also manage the HRIS function and will be responsible for collaborating with Information Technology to build and maintain an HRIS infrastructure capable of supporting the continued growth of the Institution and ensuring internal processes are efficient and effective. This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources/Chief Human Resource Officer.

This position supervises the staff responsible for analyzing jobs, conducting surveys, establishing career ladders, job evaluations and leading campus-wide process improvements to gain staff efficiencies. This position also supervises staff responsible for improving the use of and maintaining HRIS systems and HR records.

Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field of study
•Ten (10) years of progressive Human Resources experience in Compensation with at least five (5) years of management/supervisory experience

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following specialized knowledge, skills and abilities:
•Demonstrated ability to assess business needs and develop compensation strategies and programs that meet the needs
•Demonstrated background in managing executive compensation and equity programs
•Knowledge of bonus plan designs, incentive plans and other competitive practices
•The ability to identify cost impacts for all compensation, reward and recognition programs
•Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present data and influence recommendations in an organized and logical manner to all levels of an organization
•Extensive business acumen and a solid understanding of competitive compensation practices
•Proven record of success leading, managing and developing a strong team; coach for performance by mentoring, coaching and counseling staff.
•Solid working knowledge of a variety of HRIS systems and applications.
•Strong computer skills with advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint experience.
•Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
•Considerable knowledge of personnel administration including job analysis, classification, job evaluation, and compensation.
•Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes, regulations, guidelines and procedures.
•Knowledge of laws related to fair employment practices.
•Self-directed, adaptable to change, and able to lead a team and project

Preferred Qualifications:
•Masters of Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
•Experience in an Academic Medical Center or Hospital setting
•Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
•Four (4) years of Human Resource Information Systems Experience
