Staff Accountant


Position Description: Accountant, exempt, reports to the Controller.
Overview: The Accountant will support the Controller and the accounting operations of Comfort Systems USA Arkansas, to include support the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Accountant is also involved with cash management procedures and elements of risk management.
Principal Responsibilities
Involved with the accounting functions to maintain and enforce efficient and thoroughly documented systems of accounting policies and procedures.
Involved in the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
Oversee mechanical service accounting and billing to include job costing and billing processes.
Oversight of accounts payable, taxes and involved with payroll, assisting as needed.
Assist with and ensures monthly bank reconciliations are completed.
Involved with mechanical construction job cost accounting / percentage of completion of contracts, as needed.
Ensure all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
Assist with accounts receivables to ensure proper collection.
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
Assist with the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts.
Involved with maintaining an orderly accounting filing system.
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Issue timely and complete financial statements.
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
Involved with calculating variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
Provide for a system of management cost reports.
Provide financial analyses, as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations.
Involved with coordinating the provision of information to internal and external auditors for the annual audit.
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Comply with and enforce all Comfort Systems USA policies and procedures.
Support Comfort Systems USA by the timely provision of required information for filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission, or as directed to support CSUSA requirements towards same.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an accountant, or within accounting.
Experience working within the commercial construction and/or service industry, preferred.
Highly knowledgeable of Microsoft excel to include pivot tables, charts and analysis.
Knowledge of accounting software, preferably Coins.
Ability to travel less than 10% of the time, including overnight travel, to attend meetings and training. Ability to work periodic evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
