Research Project/Data Analyst


The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is accepting applications to fill the position of Research Project Analyst. The Research Project Analyst is a grant-funded position responsible for researching and providing statistical reports for ongoing and special projects. The Research Project Analyst verifies and collects information and data, analyzes and recommends revisions to systems to facilitate information storage, retrieval and usage to analyze and compile statistical reports. Works under the direct supervision of the project director and serves as administrative manager/coordinator for the lead office. Performs general and clerical office procedures, establishes and maintains files on all students registered with the office; records and transcribes meeting minutes, assists students with completing office paperwork, assists staff and national agencies. The Research Project Analyst oversees the operation of the lead office to ensure quality service is provided as well as interacts with diverse clientele, institutions, and funding agencies; designs and distributes survey questionnaires and reports used in data collection phase of project; codes collected data in data base through a national centralized system, coordinates management survey projects, and compiles information for status and statistical reports. Writes various quarterly, and annual reports, explaining findings of research for assigned projects; prepares and presents summaries and analyses of survey data, including graphs, tables and fact sheets that describe techniques and results. Utilizes desk top publishing software to prepare various statistical and narrative reports for print and/or distribution or directs others utilizing software; accesses information held in data bases to respond to special requests for statistical and analytical reports from agency/institution personnel and outside sources. Answers questions from data collection sources concerning proper reporting procedures and consults with clients to identify survey needs and any specific requirements, such as special samples.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, technology, mathematics, public administration, or a related field plus two-five years of experience in teaching/tutoring, statistics, planning, or a related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A STEM background and familiarity with all STEM areas is helpful. Knowledge of methods and techniques of compilation of research and statistical data; administrative principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, coordination of people and resources; knowledge of principles and practices of statistical research. Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others, execute research projects, developing specific goals and plans, interpret and apply program objectives and translate research findings into comprehensive reports and proposals, prepare and present oral and written technical information and reports.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Position will begin in Fall 2019.
