Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration


University of Arkansas invites applications for vice chancellor for finance and administration. Reporting to the chancellor, the vice chancellor for finance and administration (VCFA) provides strategic leadership to shape and implement critical services that support the university's growth and its mission as a land-grant public university.

More than 750 staff work in units reporting to the Division of Finance and Administration, providing support that enables the University of Arkansas to be the best of public higher education, advancing Arkansas while building a better world. A key strategic member of the Chancellor’s Executive Committee, the VCFA is the chief financial officer overseeing the establishment and oversight of sound systems of accounting and the current implementation of an enterprise resource management system; financial operations and reporting; budgetary reporting and control; human resources management; logistical services; information technology and communications; and facilities planning and management.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and innovative individual who can influence, shape and lead complex organizations, make important decisions for the benefit of the organization and envision the changing role of finance and administration at a land-grant institution of the present and future. This candidate should demonstrate a track record and/or ability to respond to changing revenue models based on demographic shifts in Arkansas and the nation, while maintaining a strong “net” position and excellent financial stewardship. In addition, the VCFA should have experience streamlining processes for greater stakeholder buy-in and transparency and transitioning key, campus-wide systems including business and financial, human capital management and student information systems into Workday.

A master’s degree in a related field and at least five years of higher education experience is preferred. The preferred candidate will have experience leading a large, comprehensive organization through significant organizational change while employing innovative financial and business management approaches. Communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced professional who is a strategic, innovative manager and mentor; a trusted advisor to university leadership; a professional with comprehensive knowledge and skills related to accounting, finance and business administration; budgetary planning and control; purchasing and general logistical management; physical plant and property management; human resources; auxiliary enterprises; investment and cash management; capital financing; information technology; and communications. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with diverse populations, as well as contribute to the inclusivity and diversity of the campus community.
