Accounting Specialist

Budget & Financial Reporting:
The Accounting Specialist provides operational support to the Budget & Reporting Director by gathering, analyzing, and preparing data and documentation for annual budget submissions, quarterly actual vs. budget reporting, annual financial statements, reports of operations, expenditure reports, statistical data, and other financial reporting requirements of the institution, including ad hoc requests from internal and external stakeholders. This position will also assist the Budget & Reporting Director in maintaining user finance security, financial manager and electronic approval queues, and the chart of accounts in the ERP system.

Position Control:
The Accounting Specialist provides operational support to the Budget & Reporting Director by assisting in the management of the institution’s state appropriated and provisional positions, including the maintenance of position-related data and forms in the ERP system and the gathering, analyzing, and preparing of data for the position reporting requirements of the institution.

General Accounting & Other Operational Support:
The Accounting Specialist will have general accounting duties such as preparing and maintaining various accounting records and making general ledger journal entries and may be required to substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents and reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. This position will also participate in the development and maintenance of accounting procedures and protocols for assigned areas.

This position may have other duties as assigned, including learning and performing additional duties to provide operational support for other key functional areas in Financial Services as assigned, including Payroll, Procurement, Cash Management, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
