Sound Supervisor

The Sound Supervisor is a full time, integral member of TheatreSquared’s production staff, charged with carrying out TheatreSquared’s sound and audio needs. Additionally, this opportunity offers room for artistic and professional growth as the company continues to grow into their state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot, two-venue home. This position reports to the Director of Production.

As a specialized theatre professional—and as a positive, collaborative member of an inclusive workforce—this new staff member will help TheatreSquared answer the question, “How can a theatre be an agent of social change—helping foster a community that is fundamentally more equitable?”


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the loading in and striking sound systems for all productions and events
Support and collaborate closely with guest sound designers to achieve sound design
Lead setup of audio equipment during the load-in process
Keep all audio equipment and systems in top performance (including Dante network, ALD system, building monitors and paging)
Maintain audio equipment; track wear and maintenance levels
Maintain all theater and audio storage spaces in a clean, safe and usable manner
Support guest sound designers through tech rehearsals and attend post-rehearsal tech note meetings
Design sound for productions when an guest designer is not engaged
Join run crews of productions and events as needed
Setup tech tables and intercom in coordination with other production area heads
Professionally represent TheatreSquared to outside personnel including visiting artists, patrons, and rental clients.
Supervisor staff and overhire technicians assigned to audio
Orient overhire technicians in procedures and safety rules
Collaborate closely with other production area heads
Attend production meetings, department meetings, staff meetings, etc as requested
Work in other areas of production as needed and schedule allows

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Experience with theatrical sound equipment, systems, installation and procedures is required.
Experience with entertainment networking systems
Experience mixing audio for musical theatre.
Ability to work flexibly as a team member and present a positive attitude in times of stress.
Ability to research and self-teach new skill sets in an ever evolving field
Self-motivated, with a solution oriented work ethic in order to provide the highest quality work possible, in a mutually supportive environment.
Ability to work at heights from ladders, personnel lifts, and catwalks.
Ability to repeatedly lift, push, or maneuver up to 50lbs either alone or with assistance.
While the typical workday will be standard daytime hours Monday-Friday, given the typical schedule of a theatre company, the position requires the flexibility to work a modified schedule with some nights, weekends, and being on call.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This full-time, exempt position includes an annual salary in the range of $46,000-$50,000. commensurate with experience. Full-time benefits include health; dental; paid time off; relocation assistance; paid parental leave; professional development allowance; employer-sponsored long-term and short-term disability; $100,000 in employer-sponsored term life insurance; and voluntary matching 401(k).
