TheatreSquared Apprentice Program: Fall 22 - Spring 23


TheatreSquared is seeking a class of eight apprentices for the 2022/23 Season. TheatreSquared’s Apprentice Program for emerging young professionals is designed to launch the careers of talented early arts leaders, with a special focus on candidates with lived experiences traditionally underrepresented in the American Theatre. In particular, the company has focused its recruitment on individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC).

Apprentices receive a living wage, personalized training, and an in-depth, hands-on experience with top-tier professionals at T2, serving as a launching pad for a lifetime career in professional theatre. Each participant has the opportunity to special mentorship in a designated focus area, with some aspects of running a theatre . The apprenticeship culminates in a group project where all apprentices work together to create and execute a program of their choosing.

Available apprenticeship department focus areas include Marketing, Development, Education, Arts Management, Production Management, Carpentry, Scenic Painting, Lighting, Stage Management, Costumes, Artistic, and Community Experience/Events. Apprentices report to the Director of Education

Apprenticeship program includes:

Mentorship from professionals in the field.
Professional development workshops.
Meetings with fellow apprentices where the group will engage with visiting artists, directors, and other guests.
Ability to add to individual portfolios
A culminating apprenticeship group project, created and executed by the apprenticeship team.

As an enthusiastic, early-career theatre professional—and as a positive, collaborative member of an inclusive workforce—this new staff member will help TheatreSquared answer the question, “How can a theatre be an agent of social change—helping foster a community that is fundamentally more equitable?”


Open availability for the duration of the program: August 15 - May 19, 2023.
A passion for live theatre.
Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time and deliver within deadlines.
Must be goal oriented, self motivated, highly flexible and able to accept feedback.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
Candidates must have received the full COVID vaccination and required booster shots prior to the start date of the program.
Ability to find and secure local housing.


Background knowledge of, and experience in, theatre is preferred, but not required.

This temporary, full-time position includes a weekly wage of $600, averaging 35 to 40 hours a week. Benefits include allotted show tickets, 5 days PTO, access to the company employee assistance program, and the opportunity to regularly experience professional, live theatre.

Now in its 16th season, TheatreSquared’s challenging, heartfelt, and intimate productions reach 60,000 patrons each year, including more than 20,000 students and their teachers. T2 fills a crucial niche in the region’s cultural landscape as the only year-round, producing professional theatre within a 150-mile radius, operating on an annual budget of $7 million. TheatreSquared employs trained artists from across the country to create its 330 annual performances and is contracted with Actors' Equity Association. The theatre is also Arkansas’s home for professional playwrights, developing scripts through the Arkansas New Play Festival in Fayetteville and Bentonville and producing new works and world premieres each year.
