About Immerse Arkansas

Immerse Arkansas was founded in 2010 with the mission of transforming youth from crisis into overcomers. The nonprofit organization serves youth between the ages of 14 and 24, whose past trauma and challenges have created barriers to becoming independent, healthy, successful adults.

Immerse Arkansas works with these youth and families to address the underlying trauma resulting from abuse or neglect. We believe that when we surround youth from crisis with unconditional relationships, a vision for their restored future, and tools that anticipate their needs and dreams, we create a climate for healing, growth, and transformation.

The Director of Finance is a full-time, on-site, salaried position.

Position role description

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Director of Finance will:

Finance - Manage accounting and finance operations from diverse funding sources (federal, state and local government grants and contracts; private grants, private donations, earned income, and fundraising event income) including account analysis and reconciliations, financial statement preparation and consolidation, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting.

Human Resources - Manage multiple aspects of the HR process, including onboarding, new hire paperwork and file maintenance, payroll, benefits, compliance, and other employment matters for a diverse team including hourly and salaried workers, contract workers, VISTA members, interns, and volunteers.

Systems Development - Analyze problem areas and develop customized solutions according to mission, vision and values, to maintain the highest standards and build capacity for growth.

Organizational Leadership- Supervise, develop, and lead members of the team and serve on the Leadership Team to support ongoing organizational “big decisions”.

Team and Personal Development - Support the continual clarity of the mission and vision of the organization and oversight of the assemblage of meetings and training to inspire, direct and maintain focus, and unify the team. Challenge team members to embrace the level of excellence needed to truly “walk with.” Promote teamwork through collaboration, support, and communication. Continual personal development and growth to provide an example to the team and to constantly pursue excellence.


Qualifications: All employees will be thoroughly committed to Immerse’s mission. The ideal candidate will embrace Immerse’s values of with, worship, and scrappy. All candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, or related field required. Master’s preferred.

Experience: Experience with non-profit accounting/bookkeeping required. Knowledge and experience working with complicated grant billing and tracking required. Experience managing a federally or state supported program preferred. Leadership/management experience required.


Additional Requirements:

Experience working with adolescents and young adults from trauma is preferred.
Knowledge of accounting software is required. QuickBooks experience preferred.
The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for an organization, a division or a significant program area.
Experience with financial audits preferred. Basic knowledge of GAAP required.
Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with – programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
A track record in grants management or financial management of nonprofits preferred.
A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle to use in performance of job. Position requires some travel within Central Arkansas.
Must maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and other certifications determined by the program.
Must successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.
