Job Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the workload for the small package warehouse. This requires them to have a strong understanding of Fed Ex and UPS shipping software, as well as customer specific requirements. In order to meet our customer’s needs and avoid financial implications we must remain informed about any changes to the customers specifications. It is important that we meet these needs and in the event that exceptions are made, we are able to have justification for the changes to avoid the penalties that can occur. It is the Shipping Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that all orders are shipped on the expected ship date via the expected shipping method. The Shipping Supervisor must monitor the needs of the department and make staffing decisions to meet these needs while minimizing the need for overtime.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Separate Pick Tickets by carrier and shipping cells and assigning workload to Shipping Clerks
2. Maintain the shipping stations to ensure rates and customer profiles are accurate
3. Maintain the urgency of orders while promoting Team Work
4. Maintain a Safe and Clean environment within the department
5. Ensure that all orders are processed in a one piece flow
o Orders are Picked
o Orders are Scanned
o Orders are Processed
6. Research reports to ensure that shipping mistakes and late shipments are kept to a minimum
o Researching shipments on incorrect accounts
o Correct Tracking Numbers
o Research UPS charges
o Research Open Order Report
7. Research Customer Requirements for Small Package Shipments
o Research customer routing guides
o Research customer Label requirements
o Research customer transportation methods
8. Create product labels and Customer Specific labels for the department
9. Prepare shipping documents for customer orders
o Commercial Invoices
o Bills of Lading
10. Prioritize when orders are picked to ensure that they ship on the required date
11. Maintain supporting documentation for customer compliance
12. Work with Compliance Team for onboarding of new customers
o Review routing guides
o Label requirements
o Transportation methods
13. Monitor inventory levels of departmental supplies.
14. Maintain Small Parts Inventory
15. Ensure that proper carton and packaging is being used for all Small Package orders
16. Ensure that the product has been restocked in the shipping cells
17. Complete Advanced Ship Notices for orders
18. Assist with auditing orders prior to loading
19. Schedule pick up appointments
20. Works in a team environment within the global supply chain group by supporting both individual and companywide value streams.
21. Responsible for any additional duties as needed
Education and Experience
• 4 Year Degree in Business or related field
• Must obtain CPIM within 2 years of hire
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel
• Proficient in generating Bills of Lading and Commercial Invoices
• Experience in EDI and Advanced Ship Notices
• Experience with Bar Coding and MH10 labels
• Proficient in determining the cubic feet of the shipments
