POSITION SUMMARY:

To maintain vehicles and rolling (trailers) equipment efficiently and in condition to meet the need of the Cooperative personnel.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Lead Mechanics
Supervises: None
Directs: None

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs periodic preventative maintenance.
Changes oil and oil filters in every vehicle every 2,500 miles.
Greases all vehicles every 2,500 miles
Performs intermediate type maintenance and repairs on all vehicles.
Performs minor body and fender work when needed.
Maintains a gas, oil, parts and etc. maintenance summary sheet.
Maintains garage in a clean and orderly condition.
Performs acetylene and electric welding for minor repair.
Maintains materials and stock for maintenance.
Performs minor overhauls and repairs for gas and diesel equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic.

The Mechanic shall be required to perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Job Knowledge, training and experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have four years general auto and equipment maintenance and repair in addition to formal training. Must be aware of the considerable hazards when working around moving vehicles, precarious places, and energized equipment.

Equipment Operated: Must have a current or be able to obtain driver's license with a Class A commercial endorsement. Must be able to use all equipment regularly found in a garage doing minor and/or routine service work.

Abilities and Skills: Must be able to perform all job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, in a safe and efficient manner.

Physical Effort: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds routinely, and up to 100 pounds upon occasion.

Working Conditions: Conditions include working in an open garage without benefit of air conditioning. Gas, oil, grease, and mechanical odors are common. Work will occasionally involve working on the road or in the field, wherever vehicles may be and requiring immediate attention. Irregular hours may include night, weekends and holidays.
