What you’re most passionate about in your career
“Technology has the power to level the playing field — expanding access and reimagining how we live, work and connect. In cybersecurity, I value the responsibility not just to protect systems, but to safeguard trust, preserve identity and defend the digital freedoms that shape modern life. I’m drawn to environments that challenge my thinking, foster meaningful dialogue and leave room for curiosity to lead with purpose.”

A word that describes you
“Enterprising.”

First job and lessons learned
“My first job was as an undergraduate assistant in the government documents department at the University of Alabama’s Gorgas Library. Between cataloging policy records and archiving decades of historical data, I developed an appreciation for information stewardship, attention to detail and the quiet power of preserving institutional memory. Beyond the stacks, I learned how to collaborate across departments, build relationships and hone operational skillsets — these lessons in discipline and adaptability still shape how I move through my career today.”

Biggest obstacle you’ve overcome
“Cultivating mental resilience has been one of my most meaningful pursuits. It’s a daily challenge, rooted in the understanding that everything begins in the mind. The ability to center yourself, trust your instincts, continue building momentum while the world shifts around you requires discipline. Over time, I’ve come to see a strong self-concept and the capacity to navigate uncertainty as essential to growth, just as vital as any technical expertise.”

A small habit that has helped you succeed
“Every weekend, I carve out time in a thoughtfully designed space — a quiet café, bookstore or gallery for a personal planning session. It’s my ritual reset: a pause to reflect, map what’s ahead and realign with my long-term goals. In a world that rarely slows down, this is how I stay clear and focused.”

Who you look up to and why
“I don’t source inspiration, personally or professionally, from a single place. Life is layered, and I’ve found meaning in gathering lessons from a wide range of people and experiences to shape a more textured perspective. I’m most moved by those who lead with agency, chart their own course and carry a clear sense of self. Whether it’s a student I’ve mentored, an executive I’ve partnered with or a thought leader I’ve studied, I’m drawn to individuals who blend personality with purpose and whose paths are deeply aligned with their values.”

One book everyone should read and why
“In the spirit of the ‘20 in their 20s’ publication, ‘The Defining Decade’ by Dr. Meg Jay is a timely and worthwhile read. The book explores how to navigate your twenties with intention, addressing themes like work, relationships, identity and personal growth. At its core, it’s a reminder that this season, while full of change and uncertainty, is also rich with opportunity. The concept of building identity capital is relevant at any career stage, and the book reinforces how small, deliberate choices can yield compounding returns across every area of life. It’s a title that I often gift to mentees and revisit myself as a mindset refresher.”
