Professional “aha” moment
“I started my career working for the government and was burning out pretty quickly. That’s when I got my foot in the door of the utility industry, and things began to change. I found my calling and began building a career that I love, which led me to where I am today. I realized through that change that a true career happens when you find your niche.”

Learning from a mentor
“My dad, Phillip Brown, is my mentor. He instilled the value of hard work in me, and he also taught me the importance of family. I watched him go to work every day — he was granted multiple patents through the years, he built a strong career for himself, and yet he was always home by 5 p.m. to be with us and never missed anything important in our lives. He also made sure I know my way around a toolbox, which is an important skill for anyone to have.”
