SUMMARY The Network Analyst will assist or lead in the design, construction and implementation of network systems across the enterprise. The roles of this position include planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all local and wide artea network connections ansd communication links. This position triubleshoots network performance issues, analyzes network traffic, and provides capacity planning solutions. This position diagnoses, resolves, and documents hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training and support where required in accordance with the mission and core values of the company. RESPONSIBILITIES Consult with users to evaluate requirements, recommend designs, provide cost analyses and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks. Plans and implements any improvement, modifications, or replacement of network infrastructure components. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. Identify and remediate network performance issues and bottlenecks Interact and negotiate with subsidiary, vendors and contractors to secure network products and services Develops and implements policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, security best practices, appropriate use and disaster recovery Create/update/maintain documentation of network infrastructure and components Serve as a"backup" for other team members, seek cross-training in their areas of expertise, and perform their duties in their absence Ensure network and IP connectivity of all workstations, servers, branh offices and substations Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. Document network problems and resolutions for future reference. Other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist personnel of other departments as an IT resource. Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members. Provide IT orientation to new company staff KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Technical knowledge of LAN/WAN, and TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS services. Technical knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, wireless technologies and IOS. Familiarity with primary routing technologies such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc. Proficient with Microsoft OS's and Office applications for operations, installation, maintenance, upgrades and evaluations. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work requirements. Proven interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to be successful in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and must successfully pass a background investigation QUALIFICATIONS Minimum requirements: Associate Degree in a technical discpline with 3+ years of directly related network and telecom operational experience. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for an office environment, plus some work in outdoor environments requiring safety procedures. Work requires extensive work using a computer.
