Travs Move Radio Broadcasts to ‘The Buzz’ Sister Station
Steven Davis is set to return for his seventh season as the broadcaster for the Travelers.
Interest rates, inflation and supply chain issues factor into the plans, according to construction and financing experts, but they haven’t been standing in the way.
Given the industry’s reliance on disposable income, the inflation numbers are a troubling sign for sports business leaders.
ArkansasSports360.com recently visited with four BCS conference athletic directors who were in charge of football coaching searches last season. Each had his own approach, but all of the administrators — Arizona’s Greg Byrne, Illinois’ Mike Thomas, North Carolina’s Bubba Cunningham and Washington State’s Bill Moos — agreed that a football coaching search is as consuming as it gets. There is no overstating the importance of the decision currently facing Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long.

Perhaps Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson can’t do his relationship with offensive coordinator Paul Petrino justice with words. His spring practice performance provides as good an explanation as any of how well he and Petrino fit. It’s well documented the sort of spring Wilson had. He threw no interceptions in scrimmages and capped April by completing 31 of 41 passes for 467 yards with two touchdowns in the Red-White game. read more >

Bahn: Arkansas State’s Malzahn Pitches Vision For Red Wolves In Statewide Speaking Tour
Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn made 15 stops in 14 different towns and covered approximately 1,100 miles working to promote the Red Wolves earlier this week. ArkansasSports360.com was with Malzahn for the final day of the trip, which included stops in Bryant, Pine Bluff, El Dorado, Fordyce and Hot Springs. A history of producing great college wide receivers and two of the top 150 draft picks in the recent NFL Draft. Phone Records Show Frequent Contact Between Bobby Petrino, Jessica Dorrell
Former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino and Jessica Dorrell exchanged thousands of phone calls, text and multimedia messages between September and April 5, including on game days during the 2011 football season. Documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request provided more detail of the inappropriate relationship between the two that ultimately led to Petrino’s firing. Athletic Director Jeff Long said Petrino and Dorrell, hired into the football office on March 28, were together a “significant” amount of time, something the records confirm. read more >

Bahn: Feeling Pain At Arkansas, But Not Necessarily Petrino’s Pain
Regardless of how much pain he was in following the wreck — State Police Captain Lance King says Petrino did nothing but groan on the way to the hospital (well, groan and provide detailed directions on how to get to the little known Physician’s Specialty Hospital)— it’s really hard to muster much sympathy anymore for Petrino. There is a next logical step in showing respect to Nolan Richardson. Former players have already begun work behind the scenes to ensure appreciation for Richardson isn’t limited to a museum, the pages of a book, the occasional pep rally celebrating the 1994 National Championship or a documentary.
