ASBTDC Receives $125K Grant to Help Companies Apply for Grants

1 min read

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received a $125,000 grant to assist companies pursuing federal Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer grants and contracts.

The U.S. Small Business Administration awarded the competitive funding for specialized training, mentoring and technical assistance for research and development-focused small businesses under the Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program administered by its Office of Innovation and Technology.

The ASBTDC is one of 24 FAST award recipients.

FAST seeks to improve outcomes in SBIR/STTR programs for underserved communities by increasing participation from women-owned, rural-based, and socially economically disadvantaged small businesses.

ASBTDC will use the grant to assist university-based researchers and small tech-based companies that have not traditionally participated in SBIR/STTR programs.

The center will offer “accelHERate” TED Talk-style events to women entrepreneurs, general education webinars on SBIR/STTR, one-on-one mentoring and a multi-week accelerator program to two groups of companies, in the spring and summer. They’ll be focused on health care and agricultural technologies, respectively.
