John Webb has been hired as market president for Cigna in Arkansas, west Tennessee and Mississippi.

Webb has more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. His responsibilities in his new role include serving Cigna’s employer clients with 500 or more plan employees, while ensuring offerings meet client and customer needs for affordable, predictable and simple health care.


Dr. Kala Burgener-Slaton has joined Conway Regional Health System as an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Slaton will be practicing at the Renaissance Women’s Center.

She received her medical degree and obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Slaton will also hold an outreach clinic in Morrilton.

Zijing Zhang has been awarded a two-year $200,000 grant and Postdoctoral Scholar Award from the Global Consortium for Reproductive Longevity & Equality. The consortium’s Postdoctoral Scholar Award recognizes junior scientists leading the way for the upcoming generation of reproductive aging researchers. Zhang is a postdoctoral fellow and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences researcher studying how biological changes in the ovary due to aging can influence reproduction.

Dr. Jarna Shah has joined the UAMS as a fellowship-trained pain management specialist. Shah has expertise in neuromodulation and obstetric-related chronic pain. Shah earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Services and completed her fellowship in interventional pain medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Shah is also an assistant professor in the Chronic Pain Division in the Department of Anesthesiology in the UAMS College of Medicine.


Dr. Ramey Marshell

Dr. Ramey Marshell has been hired as a cardiologist at Baptist Health Heart Institute/Arkansas Cardiology in Little Rock.

Marshell reads and performs echocardiography, nuclear perfusion studies and diagnostic heart catheterizations. He is also one of the few level 3 cardiac/coronary computed tomography readers and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging readers in the state.

Marshell earned his medical degree from UAMS. He completed his residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease through the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
