State Fair Names Bacchus as Livestock Director

1 min read

The Arkansas Livestock Show Association, which makes its big splash each year at the State Fair in Little Rock, has a new livestock director, Chris Bacchus.

The nonprofit association, which is scheduled to host this year’s version of Arkansas’ largest livestock event at the State Fairgrounds Oct. 15-24, lured Bacchus away from the Arkansas Department of Education, where he was public school program coordinator.

In the new job, he will oversee all aspects of the organization’s Livestock Department.

A native of Hagarville (Johnson County), Bacchus has a decade of experience in agriculture and livestock, which he called his passion for many years.

“I hope to have an immediate impact with the Arkansas Livestock Show Association,” Bacchus said in a news release, pledging to “help grow the fantastic exhibitor programs that the State Fair has offered to the youth of our state.”

State Fair President and General Manager Doug White called Bacchus “an enthusiastic and creative educator who will bring a high level of passion to our longstanding tradition of excellence.” Bacchus has a bachelor’s in agricultural business from Arkansas Tech University and a master’s in agricultural economics from the University of Arkansas.

The Arkansas Livestock Show Association is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that manages the Arkansas State Fairgrounds and hosts the State Fair.
