Fletcher Selected to Lead Mosaic Templars Center (Movers & Shakers)

Quantia “Key” Fletcher has been named the new director of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock.

Fletcher has served as the museum’s deputy director for the past eight years. She joined the center prior to its opening in 2008 and has helped develop MTCC as the only state-funded Black history museum, as well as helped it gain national accreditation in 2020.


Elon Turner has been named executive director of the Arkansas Research & Education Optical Network, or ARE-ON, at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Turner is currently the director of infrastructure and telecommunications at the flagship campus. He has served in various information technology roles at the UA since 2008. Turner is set to begin his new role on June 21.


Svetlana Paulson of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia has recently published an article in the Journal of Russian-American Studies. Her article, “Face to Face with the Tsars’ Capital: American Diplomats and Urban Spectatorship in Imperial St. Petersburg,” is based on Paulson’s extensive research in American and Russian archives. SAU sponsored her travels through a research grant.


Angela Collins, Drew Glover, Sandra Martin, Eric Bailey, Shelley Cassidy, Heather Shaw, Brad Stout, David Wingfield, Gary Hickson, Alta Malone, Makenzi Hamilton, Sarah Adcox, Donna McCloy and Peggy Morris were all recognized recently by Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia for their excellence and years of service.

Collins, administrative specialist I-behavioral and social sciences, and Glover, director of online learning, received the 2021 Mary Anna King Whitehead Support Staff Excellence Awards for their professionalism.

Martin, director of housing, received the 2021 Alvin & Irene Brannon Staff Diversity Excellence Award. Bailey, Cassidy, Shaw and Stout were recognized for their 10 years of service.

Wingfield was recognized for his 20 years of service. Hickson was recognized for his 30 years of service. Malone, Hamilton, Adcox, McCloy and Morris received the 2021 Spirit of SAU Awards.


Brian Logan, Suzy Toms, Denise Moseley and Copie Moore each received an award at a virtual assembly at SAU.

Logan, assistant professor of economics, received the Robert B. Walz Teaching Award. Toms, instructor of school counseling, received the Calvin U. Wetzig Teaching Award.

Moseley, assistant professor of education, received the Research Award.

Moore, associate professor of agriculture science, received the Auburn P. Smith Service Award.
