The Arkansas Women’s Hall of Fame has added two inductees to its sixth class of honorees.
They will join eight other previously announced inductees in being honored at a special ceremony on April 20 at the Statehouse Convention Center-Wally Allen Ballroom in Little Rock.
The two new inductees are:
- Sissy Jones, founder of Sissy’s Log Cabin, the state’s largest independent, family-owned jewelry store.
- Junior League of Little Rock, a nonprofit organization for women that is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
The ceremony was postponed for the second time in August, because of COVID, and the AWHOF said the additional time gave the board the opportunity to approve two more honorees.
Judge Rita Gruber, board chair, in a news release called Jones “a trailblazer in her industry” that has “set a strong precedent for women based upon faith, hard work, and perseverance.”
She also said JLLR is approaching its 100th anniversary — it was incorporated in 1929 — and that JLLR has helped lead and fund many significant community projects.
