Walmart Picks Marriott for Hotel on New Corporate Campus

1 min read

Walmart Inc. of Bentonville on Tuesday announced that it had signed a franchise agreement with Marriott for the hotel on its new corporate campus.

The 90,000-SF hotel, scheduled to open in summer 2024, will operate under Marriott’s AC Hotel brand. Walmart said the five-story, 153-room building will be used for recruiting, company gatherings, employee visits and more. It will feature 6,000 SF of flexible meeting and event space on the main lobby floor, along with a rooftop lounge with indoor and outdoor seating.

The hotel will be located on the northwest side of the campus on the Razorback Greenway at the corner of 8th Street and J Street, providing access to office buildings, campus amenities, a network of walking and biking paths, and local attractions.

“The purposeful location of the hotel is yet another example of the Walmart campus integrating with the community,” the company said in a news release.

The hotel is the latest piece of the new 350-acre campus, which Walmart plans to open in stages through 2025. It includes 12 office buildings, 11 parking garages, and 10 buildings for amenities such as a fitness center.

Last year alone, contractors on the project received permits valued at more than $630 million.

Gensler of San Francisco is the project’s executive architect, working with local operators including Miller Boskus Lack Architects of Rogers, CEI Engineering Associates of Bentonville, Nabholz Construction Corp. of Conway and the Springdale office of Flintco LLC of Tulsa.
